We are excited to continue our tradition of celebrating Juneteenth with our community, and we couldn't do it without the support of our sponsors and supporters. Your donations help us provide college scholarships for local high school students and make our free community festival possible. Thank you for being a part of our celebration of freedom and community!
For 25 years a committed group of community volunteers, working with a dedicated group of sponsors, have ensured the success of the Juneteenth Banquet and Festival events. The Daytona Beach Juneteenth Festival is the largest and longest-running event of its kind within the state of Florida. It is estimated that over 6,000 people attended the 2023 Daytona Beach Juneteenth celebration. The Juneteenth Festival Committee, Inc., a non-profit organization, looks forward to working with your organization to present the second Juneteenth National Holiday Community Celebration (JNHCC) banquet and the Family Festival.
We celebrate the centuries of struggle, courage, and hope that has brought us to this time of progress and possibility. That work has been led throughout our history by abolitionists and educators, civil rights advocates and lawyers, courageous activists and trade unionists, public officials, and everyday Americans who have helped make real the ideals of our founding documents for all. Juneteenth not only commemorates the past but calls us to unite in action today.
As we plan for the Juneteenth National Holiday Community Celebration Festival, we look forward to honoring our Hometown Heroes. These citizens are selected every year to recognize them for their sacrifice, compassion, and commitment to children, seniors, and the community. Additionally, we anticipate once again awarding five deserving local high school students scholarship checks at the Banquet.
New Festival events this year include the addition of a fitness run and Juneteenth Parade, which will take place Saturday morning. The festival will continue to showcase the historic Sankofa Traveling Museum. They will display more than 500 artifacts that document African-American life dating back to the 1800’s. This free, all-day community event will also include live musical entertainment, several food truck and beverage vendors, merchandise and sponsors booths, interactive activity booths, live African dancers, children’s games, including pony rides and a petting zoo, in addition to educational activities and a Pound Cake Contest. Proceeds from the Juneteenth Celebration will help support college scholarships for area youth.
